Body and Mind Health

Rolfing

Dr. Heather practiced Rolfing for 30 years. Now, she works with 2 Rolfers in her practice at Garden Health Group in River Forest, Illinois. The powerful somatic connection between the body and mind consistently reveals how working with one helps the other. At Garden Health Group, Elizabeth and Michael are certified Rolfers to help you achieve alignment and function in your body, and mind.

Upper Back Massage

Fascia

Though Rolfing is not a miracle therapy, a double mastectomy breast cancer survivor played volleyball again after being told she never would. A famous pianist returned to complete his almost cancelled tour. A cellist who injured his ribs returned to running - and fully breathing - after his ribs re-expanded. A mother released pelvic pain after a traumatic birth and realized how the pain was connected to her life. A hair stylist was relieved of her frozen shoulder...after one session.

Our bodies all have stories to tell.

What to Expect

You will work with your Rolfer in either underwear, loose shorts and a top, or a bathing suit (at your comfort level). A goal for the session will be discussed. You will be asked to move to help the Rolfer see where issues exist. Then you will get on the table and hands on work will be applied. Sometimes you will be asked to move as strokes are applied. Rolfing asks that your participate, not only receive the work done. â€‹

Fascia

he feeling of Rolfing is different than massage. Friction is used to address the fascia, or connective tissue, in the body to help release adhesions caused from injury or overuse. Freedom is created decreasing or eliminating pain altogether.
